LAKE ERIE LINKING PROJECT

The primary purpose of the Lake Erie Conference Server and the Lake Erie Linking Project is to provide Echolink coverage for Maritime mobile stations on the waters of Lake Erie as well as campers and vacationers in and around the lake area. As more and more Echolink repeaters and simplex links join in the project, a designated hub will become established allowing stations to communicate with one another no matter their distance apart. As a result of having a large presence of maritime communications on Lake Erie, enthusiasts from around the world can join in and learn much of the happenings on and around this very active lake region.
Another important purpose of the server and linking project, is to provide a platform for maritime, shipwreck commemoration, Lake Erie Lighthouse, and other historic and geographic related nets.
If you have a repeater or simplex link on Echolink that covers portions of Lake Erie and would like to become a part of the project please contacts us on the air or by email. Stations from all over with any node types are welcome to connect to the server and stay as long as you like. We hope for the most part to maintain the Lake Erie theme so if you have some history to share or would like to operate a net on the server, do not hesitate to contact us.
Announcements related to severe weather in the region will be broadcasted on RF during watches and warnings by link or repeater stations in the effected areas. All stations will stand by for maritime traffic as well as emergency traffic and full assistance will be given as needed. Stations should be sure to leave a 2 to 3 second gap between transmissions at all times and should leave several second gaps and be sure tomake rasonably short transmissions during times of severe weather in the region during the boating season.
